Our Story
The West Odessa VFD was established in 1978 by a group of dedicated citizens who recognized the growing need for a local firefighting service. What began as a small team with limited resources has evolved into a crucial part of West Odessa's emergency response network.

In those early days, our volunteers operated with minimal equipment but an abundance of determination. Their spirit and commitment laid the foundation for the strong, community-focused department we are today.

Today
Fast forward to the present, and the West Odessa VFD has grown into a modern and well-equipped department, ready to respond to a wide range of emergencies. Our team, which includes both seasoned professionals and passionate new volunteers, is trained to handle everything from traffic accidents and grass fires to complex structure fires.

Each member of our department is equipped with state-of-the-art tools, including Motorola XTS 2500 and Motorola APX 8000XE radios, ensuring effective communication during operations. While our members continue to build their expertise in radio communication and emergency response, we remain committed to enhancing our capabilities through continuous training and community engagement.

As we look to the future, the West Odessa VFD remains dedicated to maintaining the safety and well-being of our community. Our ongoing mission is to provide rapid, professional, and effective emergency services, while fostering a strong relationship with the people we serve.

Thank you for supporting the West Odessa Volunteer Fire Department. Together, we can continue to make West Odessa a safe and thriving place to live.
